SEM Link’s Math and Science Career Academy exposes students to math and science through hands-on activities, real-world applications and career exploration. Through the activities below, we have exposed hundreds of Metro Atlanta youth to the possibilities of careers in science, technology, engineering and math through the following activities:
Hands-on Science Activities provide opportunities for students to get their “hands” dirty with math and science activities targeted at our community partners’ after-school and weekend programming. We also provide options for home schooled children to engage in hands on science activities.
Math and Science Literacy Club provide opportunities for students to develop their math and science literacy skills by reading math and science related magazines, articles, journals and nonfiction and fiction books. A monthly reading list will be developed for each educational segment (K-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12) and posted on our website. Students are encouraged to meet monthly to discuss what they have read with other students at monthly literacy clubs, both sponsored by SEM Link or by your school, church or community organization.
Science Cafés are informal and interactive scientific seminars for K-12 students, parents and educators that discuss real-world applications of science, engineering and mathematics.
The Science, Engineering and Mathematics Career Fair and Exhibition is our signature annual event, usually the first Saturday in May in Atlanta, where students are exposed to science, engineering and mathematics careers in an environment similar to a job fairs.
