Our Experimental Design Program teaches students how to design and conduct experiments for math and science fairs utilizing research, laboratory and scientific literacy skills gained through individual and group learning opportunities as well as mentoring. This program improves the quantity and quality of math and science fair projects for students by providing schools with undergraduate students, graduate students and professional mentors with science, engineering and math backgrounds to provide support for math and science fairs. This program has supported over 10 math and science fair projects in the City of Atlanta Public Schools, Fulton County Public Schools and private schools in the Metro Atlanta area. Each year, at least one of our students wins their school science fair and competes in the district fair and beyond. The judges that SEM Link provides for math and science fairs, give the students feedback which helps them prepare for the next level of competition or improve their project for next year’s fair. Our Experimental Design Program Handbook serves as a resource for students and educators in the Metro Area in the development of math and science fair projects. The activities in the program are:
The Experimental Design Group Mentoring Program allows K-12 educators to request support for their class to receive math and science fair project mentors.
